It's that time of year here in SoCal for the Carlsbad Marathon. It seems weird to have a race in January, but the weather usually holds for the event. Yesterday, it rained all day, put today... it was nice, but a bit cool. There is a place I like to go for my photos... in the area of the 17 mile so that I have the ocean as a backdrop.
So around 7:30 the first runner comes into view with the usual fanfare of honks, motorcycles, etc. But out there it was lonely... no one cheering in sight! But there he was... smoke'n down the road on to a first place finish! Congrats Mario.
Here are a few samples of the race photos.
I'm sure they are all happy it's over... resting those sore muscles and looking back on their accomplishments.
