Everyone has a "home" place... the place you grew up before growing up. I'm from the Midwest -- Huntington, IN to be exact, the hometown of Vice President Dan Quayle. After New Years, I went back to visit my mom and brothers and sister. It was a bit cold, compared to the SoCal weather, but we made it through without any frost bite!
I didn't have enough time to do any real exploring of the town, but I did come across a cool spot which I don't believe I'd ever seen before. It is on the main street, between the old theater and the local photography studio... it is a passageway between the two buildings which has an old iron staircase going to the balcony area of the theater and graffiti gracing the fading brick walls.
As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to use it in some portraits. So I grabbed my daughter and her friend and set about to make a series of portrait images; I'm sure the local photographer uses it for his senior portraits, or at least he/she should. The location has great character!
We had a fun time but I soon notice a stiff cold breeze swirling about the location... time to head to where it was warm!
