Selected

Today, I received an email notifying me that one of my images has been selected for The Art of Photography Show 2011.  Ok, here is a bit of that email:

Dear James David Phenicie:

I am delighted to inform you that your work was selected by our judge, Anne
Lyden, to be exhibited in the Art of Photography Show 2011:

    "Playing Dead" (JDP_2480Lcomp.jpg)

We received 15,444 entries from 72 countries. 109 pieces were chosen. So it's quite an honor that your work was
selected by Ms. Lyden!   The Opening Reception Gala will be on Saturday AUGUST 13th and will truly be a
world-class event.    We would love to have you here!

Wow... that is too cool... so here is the image:

                                                                                "Playing Dead"

I took this image in Nicaragua this year.  The story behind it is simple... we were constructing this "hut" and these scraps of wood were laying about.  These young boys came over and asked if they could play with them.  The next thing I know, they were building a box around this young boy.  When they laid down the "cross", the standing lad handed the other a flower:  "Dead" he said, and pointed to the reclining kid.

Crazy, ugh?
